Lizzo is finally coming clean about the truth behind her sex life.
The “Good as Hell” singer — who has been dating Myke Wright since 2021 — revealed she spent years lying about losing her virginity, admitting she didn’t actually have sex until her 30s.
Speaking on the Friends Keep Secrets podcast with Benny Blanco, Lil Dicky, and Kristin Batalucco on Wednesday, April 1, Lizzo, 37, said the truth had been a long time coming, but sharing it felt like “a weight lifted.”
“I promised myself when I was younger that I wouldn’t have sex until I won a Grammy,” Lizzo explained.
According to her, she “lied about it for a long time,” including when she was growing up in college. Looking back on her college days at the University of Houston, Lizzo confessed she once faked sexual experience during a girls’ night to avoid embarrassment.
Lizzo finally took home her first Grammy in January 2020, winning three that night. While sex didn’t happen immediately after the ceremony, the chart-topper revealed it wasn’t long before she followed through.
The “Truth Hurts” singer also opened up about another surprising first: her first kiss didn’t happen until she was 21, describing how it was far from magical.
Blaming her strict “religious” upbringing and a teenage pact to wait until marriage, Lizzo said the long-awaited kiss on New Year’s Eve when she was 21 ended up being “terrible,” leaving her frustrated and disappointed.
Now she is happy with partner Wright, but per an Entertainment Weekly report, she insists there were no sparks when they first met while hosting MTV music series Wonderland together in 2016.
“I have this rule where it’s like if I’m working with a guy… it’s closed,” she said.
