Kenan Thompson is the latest star to try his hand at teaching the next generation in “Celebrity Substitute,” helping kids learn the art of improv.

Thompson, 46, is the longest-tenured “SNL” cast member with 22 seasons under his belt and is fresh off celebrating the show’s 50th anniversary, but before that he was a child star on Nickelodeon’s “All That,” a sketch comedy series for kids.

In the latest episode of the digital series “Celebrity Substitute,” released Wednesday, Thompson visits New York City’s PS 321 to introduce aspiring performers to improv. The veteran comic actor teaches the schoolkids to think fast, be spontaneous, and most importantly, to say, “yes, and.”

The students put his lessons to work with a live improv show of their own, full of surprises and laughter.

“Celebrity Substitute” host Julian Shapiro-Barnum, of “Recess Therapy” fame, went to PS 321 himself, and got to return to his alma mater for the episode.

The series sees a variety of famous faces visit public elementary school classrooms in New York City as “substitute teachers.” Past substitutes have included Olympian Jordan Chiles filling in for a gym teacher, and Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh leading an acting class.

With the support of Amazon, Shapiro-Barnum and his celebrity guests also clear the Amazon Wish Lists for each school they visit.
