After coming under fire for his comedic remarks about Melania Trump, Jimmy Kimmel had two simple words.
“It’s an amazing thing to get in a group text, just a text from Jimmy saying, ‘Oh, boy,’ and then a picture of Melania mad at him,” John Oliver laughed during a special episode on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on Monday, May 11, which featured appearances by late night hosts Kimmel, 58, Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers. “What a way to start the day!”
“And then I sent a text to you guys, and I said, ‘Hey, don’t be mad at me, but I liked it.’ I think she’s got a point,” Fallon, 51, added.
The rift between Kimmel and Melania went viral late last month after the comedian made a joke at the first lady’s expense days before the shooting at White House Correspondents Dinner.
“Our first lady, Melania, is here. Look at Melania, so beautiful. Mrs. Trump, you have a glow like an expectant widow,” the Jimmy Kimmel Live! host joked during a mock White House Correspondent’s Dinner on Thursday, April 23.
“[T]his is something far beyond the pale. Jimmy Kimmel should be immediately fired by Disney and ABC,” the Apprentice alum, 79, ranted on Truth Social.

Melania, 56, later shared her disdain for the remarks via X.
“His monologue about my family isn’t comedy — his words are corrosive and deepens the political sickness within America,” she tweeted. “People like Kimmel shouldn’t have the opportunity to enter our homes each evening to spread hate.”
