Jennifer Aniston’s Relationship With Jim Curtis Is Driving a Wedge Between the ‘Friends’ Cast

Jennifer Aniston remains close with longtime friend Courteney Cox, but a source exclusively tells Star that her connection with the rest of the Friends cast has cooled in recent years.

According to the source, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer have grown increasingly distant from Aniston, 57, and they’re quietly pointing to her relationship with Jim Curtis as a factor. (The Morning Show star began dating Curtis around June 2025.)

“It’s true that in the months after Matthew Perry’s death in the fall of 2023, the surviving Friends cast did become closer and more of a unit than they had been in years as they processed the tragedy and what it meant for the ongoing legacy of their show,” the source says.

“But in the two years since that unique moment, the unity among these actors has mostly evaporated, save for Jen and Courteney’s longstanding close friendship,” the source reveals, adding that “the busy schedules of all these actors” is partially to blame.

“Certainly Lisa has her hands full singlehandedly relaunching her old comedy The Comeback, Courteney has been busy with the Scream movies and Jen has been consumed with The Morning Show,” the source explains. “But there’s no getting around the fact that TV history is slipping through all of their fingers and Friends has an unsettled legacy now that Matthew is gone.”

At the center of it all, the source says, is Aniston’s role as the group’s connector.

“It really comes down to Jen being the glue that can keep this gang together,” the source continues. “She’s the call everybody takes, no matter what is going on in everybody’s life.”

However, the source seems to believe that Aniston’s relationship with Curtis is leading her to not be “very motivated to get the old gang together, for an on-camera reunion, a charity event, or just a nice, intimate dinner together.”

“She’s the one who can make any or all of those things happen, but she’s so obsessed with Jim and her whole world revolves around him these days,” the source shares. “She just doesn’t make time for her extended Friends family even the way she did five or six years ago.”
