No wonder she was wary. The 56-year-old famously described Brad, 61, as missing a “sensitivity chip” following their 2005 split amid rumors he’d fallen for his Mr. & Mrs. Smith costar (and subsequent wife) Angelina Jolie. But a source says as the years go by, the Morning Show star has developed a soft spot for her ex, especially during his years-long divorce from Angelina and legal war over custody of their six kids.

“It took a long time and lots of self-care, but Jen got over it,” an insider tells Star. “She can appreciate Brad for the person he is, and she has a lot of respect for his work as an actor and producer.” (Notably, in their split, Jen ceded control of Plan B, the award-winning production company they cofounded in 2001.)

Now, per the report, Jen is on board. “They both could do with a box-office win, and Jen really likes the latest script his team has sent over.”

The pair have unbeatable on-and offscreen chemistry. In early 2020, they made headlines with some cute interaction backstage at the SAG Awards, and later that year thrilled fans when they flirted during a virtual table read of the ’80s classic Fast Times at Ridgemont High. “A rom-com seems like a brilliant thing for them to do,” notes the insider.

“It would make loads of money.” And if Brad’s girlfriend, Ines de Ramon, is having any Mr. & Mrs. Smith-inspired jitters, adds the insider, no worries. “Brad and Jen insist their relationship will never go beyond friendship. It’s not going to happen, no matter how much other people want it to.”
