Jason Biggs lost more than 30 pounds over the last two years, and an ego boost, along with stress from work, reportedly played a part in his split from Jenny Mollen after 18 years of marriage.
“Jason definitely has changed since his weight loss transformation. He lost a lot of weight and it definitely helped boost his ego,” a source told the Daily Mail in an article published on Sunday, May 17. “I don’t think he was wanting to lose that much weight but it happened and he’s proud of the results like any one who lost 40 pounds or more would be.”
The source also told the outlet that the “stressful time” surrounding Biggs’ directorial debut for his film, Untitled Home Invasion Romance, also contributed to a “wedge” in his and Mollen’s relationship.
Regardless, the source doesn’t see the American Pie star, 48, and Mollen’s split ever becoming “nasty.”

“They’ve been together for so long — through all of each other’s ups and downs that their history together doesn’t get forgotten overnight,” the source explained. “Their kids are truly their priority during this time. Jason and Jenny are still going to be very much a part of each other’s lives.”
However, the source did note that Mollen, 46, and Biggs’ decision to divorce was “what’s best for them as a couple and as a family.”
“Some people are better off as friends than as a married couple and I think they just started realizing that later on in their marriage,” the source added.
The Orange Is the New Black alum and Mollen first met on the set of the 2008 film, My Best Friend’s Girl. Biggs proposed in January 2008, and he and Mollen eloped just three months later.
In 2014, the former couple welcomed their first son, Silas, and three years later Mollen gave birth to son Lazlo.
On May 14, Biggs and Mollen’s rep confirmed the news of their separation to People and said that they were still on “great terms.”
