Kimberly Van Der Beek posted an emotional tribute to her late husband, James Van Der Beek, on her social media to mark the three-month anniversary of his death.
On Tuesday, May 12, the wife of the late Dawson’s Creek star, 44, took to her Instagram where she shared a series of nine photos of her late husband in various images with their six children.
“Yesterday was three months since we lost @vanderjames. To say I’m heartbroken is a severe understatement,” she captioned the post. “Words just don’t capture what grief is. The comforts of shock have worn off. The reality is settling in… and I miss him.”

“We all miss him. Yet, there is a different kind of magic in the air. I feel him. I know him more deeply. My conscious connection to God has deepened,” Kimberly continued. “The veils of the universe have thinned. And I trust that this is the path me and my family have always been intended to walk.”

James died at age 48 on Wednesday, February 11, after years of battling stage 3 colorectal cancer. Kimberly announced the news of the late star’s passing on social media at the time. Since then, many have honored the actor and shown support to her and their family.
“The outpouring of support has been tremendous. It’s held our family in the most beautiful of ways,” she concluded her three-month tribute. “You all went absolutely above and beyond anything I could have ever expected in supporting us and honoring James. I am deeply grateful. There is so much more to share here. And in time- I will.”
Van Der Beek was given his diagnosis in 2023 but waited until November of 2024 to share the news with the public. When he passed, Kimberly told the world in her Instagram post that James “passed peacefully” and “met his final days with courage, faith, and grace.”
