George Clooney Shows Off His Softball Skills Decades After Trying Out For The Cincinnati Reds

Play, ball! After conquering Broadway with his drama Good Night, and Good Luck, George Clooney took to the softball field in NYC’s Central Park for opening day of the 70th season of the Broadway Show League, for members of the theater community.

The 63-year-old, nominated for a best lead actor Tony Award for his role as legendary newsman Edward R. Murrow, has said he was a “big athlete” and played baseball in high school. He even tried out for the Cincinnati Reds MLB team.

“I just lacked skill,” he joked in 2023. “I had everything else. I had a good hat, I had a good uniform. I just lacked the ability to play the game.”
