It’s been years since Kelly Clarkson took over Ellen DeGeneres’ daytime talk show slot, but the comedian continues to keep tabs on her old job. “Ellen is still tuning in and hearing how well Kelly is doing and how she’s crushing it in the ratings, how every celeb wants to get on her show,” an insider tells Star of the 66-year-old, who recently moved to the Cotswolds in southwest England. “It wasn’t so long ago that they all wanted to be Ellen’s friend. It really sticks in her throat.”

Once known for her catchphrase “Be kind,” Ellen has been in career purgatory since a toxic-workplace scandal tanked her show. Last year’s stand-up tour and Netflix special failed to spark a true comeback, leaving Ellen bitter. Now she’s turning on her successor, 42, for “being two-faced” in the past, says the insider. “Kelly had been a frequent guest on the show,” says the source. “Ellen’s aware of the rumors of people not supporting her when she was at her lowest, and Kelly is top of her list!”
