Chrissy Teigen revealed she’s stopped drinking again after reintroducing alcohol into her life back in May of 2025.
The model and TV personality, 39, took to her Instagram on Tuesday, January 27, where she shared a lengthy, emotional and candid story with her followers. In the post, she thanked Summer House star Carl Radke for opening up about his sobriety journey before sharing her own.

“After being sober for a little over a year, I went back to drinking,” she wrote. “I promised myself it would be in a ‘mindful’ way. I wanted to be able to have a glass of wine on a date night with my husband. To be able to toast on birthdays. How lucky I am to have the life I have — I want to enjoy it! And I think that was my first problem. Tying drinking to reward or like some sort of life prize.”
“Soon it became the kind of drinking I’m all too familiar with. Quiet moments at home were for wine,” Teigen continued. “The time went from 6pm, to 5, to 4, to aw hell, it’s lunch, why not. When it got to 11am, I was like, oh f, here we go again.”
The Cravings author explained that it never impacted her ability to be a mother to her and John Legend’s kids, Luna, 9, Miles, 7, Esti, 2, and Wren, 2. However, she called this new bout of drinking “quiet and consistent.”

She went on to candidly discuss the difficulty she’s having with her own perception of sobriety now that it’s her second time quitting.
“I think the biggest difference between now and the first time is that there’s no pomp around it. The first time I put my foot down, it was EXCITING,” Teigen wrote. “The momentum was fun and kept me going on the right track. The second time… I dunno. I dunno if everyone around you kind of loses faith or if you do yourself, or a mix of both. Or maybe no one wants to get too excited.”
Teigen concluded her post by saying that she is currently 52 days sober and has no plans to return to drinking at this time.
“Turns out, without it, I can still be funny. Still be stupid. Still be wildly nervous. Anxious as a mother fucker. And I can get through it all without it,” she wrote.
Teigen previously revealed in a post shared on Instagram in May 2025 that she had let alcohol “back into my life.”
