Candace Cameron Bureis getting candid about rough patches in her nearly three decade marriage.
“There are days I wrestle with brokenness, I have experienced that,” Candace told Us Weekly in an interview published November 5. “I mean, we all do. I don’t know that I feel that daily, but there have been seasons of that in my life.”
Candace added, “I’ve been married for 29 years and I have an incredible, wonderful marriage, but it isn’t without its valleys of real struggle and then being able to build that back up. And so, there were times of deep brokenness that I felt but God is in the restoration business. He loves to restore and make all things new and he certainly has.”
The Fuller House alum, 49, wed Val Bure, 51, a former professional hockey player, in 1996. They share a daughter Natasha, 27, and sons Lev, 25, and Maksim, 23.
Over the years, Candace has been open about her marriage hurdles with the public.

In November 2024, Candace explained that her husband had once felt uncomfortable with her on-camera kissing scenes — or as he put it, “watching you being close to someone else,” Candace explained on The Candace Cameron Bure Podcast. The couple eventually agreed that Candace would not accept roles with scenes that entailed “more than a kiss.”
In July 2025, Candace revealed on her podcast that her son Lev once played mediator in his parents’ marriage, during a “really, really rough season.”
“At one point, Lev preached, like, a 45-minute sermon on marriage to us,” Candace said on the episode, adding, “I’ll never forget, because he said, ‘You know, I know I haven’t been married and I’m just a young kid, and so it’s probably hard to take marriage advice from someone this young … but I don’t need to be married to know what the word of God says.’”
