Britney Spears’ bizarre holiday posting spree was triggered by jealousy, Rob Shuter revealed in his Naughty But Nice Substack.
The pop star’s realization that her son, Sean Preston, 20, had spent Christmas with her sister, Jamie Lynn, 34, and mom Lynne, 70, “triggered an emotional spiral that quickly played out on Instagram,” a source told Shuter in a story published on Wednesday, December 31.
Britney, 44, “is insanely jealous of the bond Sean has with her mother and sister,” another insider told Shuter of the young man who, along with his brother, Jayden, was mostly raised by their dad Kevin Federline. “She can’t stand that he feels safe and comfortable with them.”

As Star previously reported, Britney — who did get to celebrate the holiday with Jayden, 19 — posted a sarcasm-laden message on Instagram on Sunday, December 28.
In her post, she wished a “Merry late Christmas to my beautiful family who have never disrespected me, harmed me, ever done anything completely unacceptable or caused unbelievable trauma, the kind you can’t fix … to my dear sweet innocent family … so so sorry I was busy this Christmas but I will definitely show up and surprise you soon.”
Indeed, Britney was invited, another family source confirmed to Shuter, but never responded.

The “Toxic” singer chose to vent her frustrations publicly instead. “This is how she communicates now,” another insider told Shuter, noting that she has everyone’s contact information. “Not by phone. Not by text. By Instagram.”
“They were hoping she’d come, especially for Sean,” the family source said. “But when she didn’t respond, they moved forward for the kids.”
