Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s Daughter Shiloh ‘Determined to Prove Herself’: ‘She’s Very Hardworking’

K-POP fans were over the moon when breakout star Dayoung released the music video for her new song “What’s a Girl to Do” April 7. But it was one of her backup dancers who stole the show — Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s daughter Shiloh. In one scene, the 19-year-old — a dead ringer for her famous mom — dances in a lacy brown shirt and baggy jeans in a club setting. Later, she can be seen in a red cropped sweater, shorts and leg warmers putting her impressive moves on display in a street scene in downtown Los Angeles.

This was no nepo-baby situation. In a statement to a Korean newspaper, a rep for Dayoung said Shiloh — credited as Shi in the video — was hired for the gig following an open audition, and noted that no one was aware she was the child of two Hollywood A-listers. That’s just the way she wanted it. “Shiloh is a fiercely independent person, and she’s always been determined to prove herself in her own right,” a source tells Star. Though she’s been famous since before she was born — her baby photos sold for a reported $4.1 million — Shiloh has no interest in following in her parents’ footsteps, much less banking on their success. “Everyone who knows Shiloh says she’s very hardworking and talented,” adds the source, “and that she’s also very unassuming and modest.”

Dancing Queen

It’s not the first time the public has seen Shiloh bust a move. She appeared in a clip posted by choreographer Lil Kelaan Carter in May 2024, and in 2022, a video of her dancing to “Vegas” by Doja Cat went viral. Her dad made a rare comment about her at the time, telling Entertainment Tonight that his daughter’s love of dance “brings a tear to the eye,” adding, “I don’t know where she got it from. I’m Mr. Two-Left-Feet here.” (As Brad’s nasty legal battles with Angelina have extended for years, several of his children, including Shiloh, dropped his last name.)

The source says dancing is Shiloh’s “life passion, and for sure where she sees herself professionally in the future.” That said, the teen prefers being part of an ensemble versus center stage. “Shiloh has a lot of friends in the dance community, they’re a tight-knit group who don’t really compete with one another. It’s all about enjoying themselves through art, and Shiloh feels incredibly blessed to have discovered herself in that culture.” The friendships go beyond the dance studio — she’s been seen on multiple occasions out and about in L.A. with fellow hoofer Keoni Rose.

Her mom couldn’t be more proud. During an interview at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival in 2025, Angelina, 50, said she’s encouraged all of her kids to find their own paths. (She and Brad, 62, also share Maddox, 24, Pax, 22, Zahara, 21, and 17-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.) “I’m giving them space to figure out who they actually are and something that they want to live for that’s authentic to them,” she said, noting that they aren’t fame-seekers. “They really don’t like any of the celebrity part of [the art world]. Especially Shiloh hates it.” She also told GMA in 2024 that her second-oldest daughter is “extremely private.”

On Her Own

It’s bittersweet for Angelina to see Shiloh all grown up and spreading her wings. In July, the Daily Mail reported Shiloh had moved into a condo with Keoni. “Shiloh stayed with Keoni for several months straight last summer,” reveals the source. “She now divides her time between there and her mom’s place, and she also does a fair amount of traveling.” For her part, Angelina, who bought her $24.5 million Los Feliz mansion in 2017 following her 2016 split from Brad, told Harper’s Bazaar in 2019 that she plans to move abroad as soon as the twins are 18. “It’s been tough for Angie to see Shiloh fly the nest, so to speak,” says the source. “But she’s very proud of her.”

Shiloh’s relationship with her dad remains complicated. She filed to legally drop his last name on her 18th birthday in 2024. (Brad and Angelina’s bitter divorce was finalized in 2024 following an eight-year battle; they are still at war over their French winery.) “Shiloh loves Brad deeply but like her brothers and sisters, it’s hard to get past the suffering they’ve experienced these past many years.” Adds the source: “There’s hope that Shiloh will sit down with him and make peace, but for now she’s moving onwards and upwards.”
