Bono Opens His Heart in Emotional New Concert Film ‘Stories of Surrender’
In his new documentary, Stories of Surrender, U2 frontman Bono interweaves performances of some of his most-loved songs with stories of growing up in Dublin, especially the loss of his mother when he was 16… and his father’s refusal to ever mention her again.
He also recounts meeting his “found family” — future wife Ali Hewson and bandmates Dave Evans (The Edge), Larry Mullen Jr. and Adam Clayton. The film proves Bono is as gifted a storyteller as he is singer, and while not quite as exciting as seeing him live, this comes close — for a fraction of the price.
