Ariana Grande Posts Ethan Slater Video, Seemingly Ending Breakup Rumors

Just when it seemed Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater might have called it quits, the pop star sent fans into a frenzy by sharing a video that suggests the couple could still be going strong.

Grande, 32, who famously played Glinda in the Wicked films, posted a clip of Slater, 33, known for his role as Boq, talking about getting into character on her Instagram Story on Thursday, December 18.

“It was less that it was daunting to take on this role that everybody has a relationship to and more that I just kind of couldn’t believe that I got to do it,” Slater, 33, said in the video. “It’s a hard arc to play because it’s so familiar.”

“You need to know what your relationship to that character is when you’re making it your own or else you lose the heart,” Slater continued.

It was a rare public display of affection for the “thank u, next” singer. The couple, who reportedly started dating in 2023 during the filming of the Wicked films, previously made headlines for moving on together quickly after past relationships.

Slater was previously married to his high school sweetheart Lilly Jay, with whom he shares a three-year-old son. Grande split from her husband Dalton Gomez during Wicked filming, and both relationships ended in divorce.

Breakup rumors surfaced in recent months after Star reported that Slater was spotted with his ex-wife in Jersey City, New Jersey. Observers also noticed a lack of PDA between Grande and Slater during the press tour for Wicked: For Good, compared to their earlier appearances for the first Wicked installment.
