Ariana Grande Channels Audrey Hepburn—And May Be Eyeing a Biopic Role

During her extensive press tour for Wicked, Ariana Grande has shown up in a parade of exquisite throwback looks that have drawn comparisons to film legend Audrey Hepburn. Yet the 31-year-old played coy when asked whether she was angling to play the Roman Holiday star in a biopic. “Oh my goodness, why is everyone asking me this?” she told Access Hollywood Jan. 7. “You’re insane!”

But insiders tell Star Ariana would sign on to play Audrey — the daughter of a Dutch noblewoman who survived the Nazi occupation during WWII before becoming a star, style icon and humanitarian — “in a heartbeat. She’s studied all of Audrey’s films to the point of obsession.”

The Golden Globe nominee feels she needs to play it cool, however, especially after the hype surrounding her current record-breaking film. “It’s not the done thing in Hollywood to blab about the role you want,” says the insider. “She has to be ‘wooed’ for it. Downplaying her chances is just her way of keeping everything in check; but make no mistake, she wants this!”
