The latest celeb to show off an impressive weight transformation is Adam Lambert, who stopped by the Today show 60 pounds slimmer than he’s previously been.
And the American Idol season 8 runner-up isn’t hiding how he achieved his new bod. In March, the 42-year-old told fans he’d been prescribed Ozempic to help regulate his blood sugar. While he did shed some weight, the singer was turned off by the side effects and opted for the type 2 diabetes drug Mounjaro, now also used for weight loss, instead. “I feel better, I feel more confident,” he’s said. “I feel like my actual body feels better, like my digestive system feels more regulated.”
The 6-foot-1 star has long struggled to maintain his figure. “He was an overweight teen and young adult,” an insider tells Star, adding that as Adam’s success grew, his body issues had an effect on his mental health. “He was surrounded by people who weren’t looking out for his best interests and he was vulnerable.”
His busy schedule didn’t help when it came to self-care. “His career was taking over his life,” notes the insider. “Adam would lose weight, only to gain it back, and he struggled with anxiety.” Now that he’s in better shape, says the insider, “he’s striving to find balance between work and his personal life and staying healthy in mind and body.”
He’s loving the way he looks — and showing it off. “He’s having a great time buying new clothes in bold colors and edgy designs that highlight his trim physique,” says the insider. “He can walk with confidence.”
