A New Era of Magic: HBO Announces Cast for Harry Potter Reimagining
HBO has announced a slew of new actors who have signed on for a reboot of the beloved movies based on the boy wizard books by J.K. Rowling.
Included in the new cast are John Lithgow, who takes Dumbledore’s wand from the late Michael Gambon; Janet McTeer, filling in for the late Maggie Smith; Nick Frost as Hagrid, made memorable by the late Robbie Coltrane; and Paapa Essiedu, who’ll bring to life the late Alan Rickman’s fan fave Severus Snape.
“I’m very excited,” John said of the somewhat daunting task. “I’ll be about 87 years old at the wrap party,” the 79-year-old joked. “But I’ve said yes.”
