The recent birth of his daughter was already an emotional day for Vin Diesel, but things were brought to a whole new level when it came to naming the little girl. Opening up about the birth of his fourth child on the Today Show Monday morning, the actor revealed that his newborn’s moniker was inspired by the late Paul WalkerV, his longtime pal costar in The Fast and Furious franchise.
“While I was in the hospital…the name that I will give you is…I named her Pauline,” he admitted. “There’s no other person that I was thinking of as I was cutting this umbilical chord. I just thought…I knew he was there and it felt like a way to keep his memory a part of my family and my world.”
Paul tragically died in a November 2013 car crash at the age of 40, before he finished filming the seventh Fast and Furious film, Furious 7, which hits theaters next month. Vin has publicly paid tribute to his friend plenty of times since the accident, but this gesture clearly speaks for itself.
