Robin Thicke spent most of 2014 publicly trying to win back his wife, Paula Patton, even naming his newest album Paula, and pleading for her to forgive him at multiple award shows. Unfortunately for the singer, the album flopped, and his wife of nine years eventually filed for divorce in October.
But while all of this was going on, the actress was laying low, taking care of the couple’s son, Julian, and keeping her lips sealed about the breakup — until now! On Friday, she finally opened up about the split and her rough year.
“I’m doing really well!” Paula told Robin Roberts on Good Morning America. “The honest truth is…it has been challenging. But it’s been a year of growth, healing, learning about all new things. I’ve come out of it stronger, my son is happy. I feel like everything happens for a reason and then you have to move on and grow from there.”
The 39-year-old also offered up some advice for anyone else who may be going through a difficult time. “The truth is, it’s hard for me to say this because I don’t always do this, but it’s being grateful for what you have,” she explained. “It’s so easy for us to focus on the negative things, but usually the positive in your life outweighs that, and you have to just be thankful for what you have right now.”
Well said, girl!
