Jill Duggar and her husband, Derick Dillard, exchanged vows on June 21 in front of 1,000 family members and friends at the Cross Church in her hometown of Spingdale, Ark. And if thinks go as planned, the couple will be mixing ammo with amour!
For their wedding registry, the 19 Kids & Counting couple favored low-key gifts from Bed Bath & Beyond, Walmart and Amazon, including some food-centric items. But the couple won’t go hungry should their friends not deliver on the edible products: they’ve also requested a Maverick 12-gauge, pump-action shotgun and a Smith & Wesson 22-caliber rifle!
Jill was introduced to Derick by her dad, Jim Bob Duggar, who was a prayer partner of Dericks while the young man was doing missionary work in Nepal. Jim Bob believed he and his daughter would hit it off — and Daddy Duggar was right.
Derick’s own father, Rick Dillard, died at age 51 in 2008, and his mom, Cathy, now 57, has been battling cancer. “I want to ask everyone to pray for my mom,” he announced during the June 20 rehearsal dinner, where Catchy was represented by an empty wheelchair. “If everyone could think of her, I know she would really appreciate it.” Happily, Cathy made it to the wedding the next day.
“Derick was extremely emotional and overjoyed that his mom was strong enough to make it for the special day,” a family insider tells Star. “In fact, there wasn’t a dry eye in the room.”
