It’s been a fairly laid back year for Blake Lively, who has taken a brief hiatus from acting as she acclimates to married life with Ryan Reynolds. The couple tied the knot in September 2012, and soon after, the actress’ TV series Gossip Girl came to an end. Since then, she hasn’t booked any new acting jobs — until now!
It was announced this week that the 26-year-old will star alongside Oscar winner Ellen Burstyn in the film Age of Adaline. In the movie, Blake will play a woman, born in the early 20th century, who stops aging after a near-fatal accident. She launches on a century-long, worldwide journey that continues until she meets a man she’s willing to lose her mortality for.
Last month, the actress hinted at the new role to Vogue UK. “There’s a movie that I’m really excited about that I’m doing this winter and one of the most enticing parts of it is that it spans from the 1900’s until now,” she explained. “The fashion is amazing, and my character gets to experience all of the different time periods and tell the story through fashion. It’s not a movie about fashion, but it’s an integral part of who she is and the whole story.”
The last time Blake appeared on the big screen was in the 2012 film Savages.
