The new 10th Anniversary Edition of the bestselling Believe Training Journal for runners features a wealth of brand-new content and revisions that reflect new wisdom and research.
Authors and former pro runners Lauren Fleshman and Róisín McGettingan-Dumas drew on more than a decade of experience as coaches, researchers, counselors, and parents to develop the Believe Training Journal, which boasts a thriving community that comes together to set goals, do the work, learn what works and what doesnt, keep their heads in the game, overcome obstacles, identify blindspots, be kind to themselves, and enjoy the whole process.
“Believe Training Journal is designed so that you can take ownership of your running and guide it to the best place possible,” said Fleshman, who won five NCAA titles and 15 All-American honors to earn a spot in the Stanford University Hall of Fame before turning pro. “It is one part training log, one part how-to manual, and one part workbook — all woven into one year of your life.”
The Believe Training Journal (10th Anniversary Edition), released in January, features designated grids for recording workout information as well as a full year of undated weeks, an annual calendar, worksheets, quizzes, tips and tools, and plenty of space to process, plan and record your training journey. The 12 essays accompanying each month have been revised with new lessons and insights on training, racing, recovery, mindset and more, based on the latest research.
The new edition also features new content including illustrated full-body exercises, an essay on the Female Performance Curve, a Year at a Glance calendar to plot your key races, training goals, and other life events, and more.
McGettigan-Dumas grew up running trails in her native Ireland before competing in track and cross-country at Providence College, where she was a four-time All-American. Now retired from competitive running, she works as a licensed mental health counselor working with athletes, is the cofounder of the Dare to Believe Olympic education program, and serves as the president of the Irish Olympians Association.
Fleshman, a Team USA alum, finished as high as 7th in the world amid many years of injuries and setbacks. She is also the author of the New York Times Bestseller and the 2023 William Hill Sports Book of the Year “Good for a Girl: A Woman Running in a Mans World.”
“The purpose is to get you to the sweet spot for performance, where heart meets intellect and effort meets ease; to get you to a place of knowledge and balance; to help you set, stick to, and accomplish your goals; and to use running as a tool to enhance your overall life,” Fleshman said. “Throughout these pages, youll find motivation from us, from leading research, and from world-class athletes all over the world; but most of all, as you fill out this journal, youll find inspiration in your personal journey.”
