From Carrie Underwood to Allison Wiliams! NBC has its next leading lady for its second go at a live musical, Peter Pan. The Girls actress will be starring at the title character in the upcoming production.
The network announced the casting news on Twitter early Wednesday morning. “Dreams do come true! #Girls star Allison Williams will play Peter Pan in #PeterPanLive!,” the tweet read. Allison joins Christopher Walken, who was previously cast as Captain Hook.
“I have wanted to play Peter Pan since I was about three years old, so this is a dream come true,” she said in a statement. “It’s such an honor to be a part of this adventure, and I’m very excited to work with this extraordinary talented team. And besides, what could go wrong in a live televised production with simultaneous flying, sword fighting and singing?”
Before casting Allison, NBC head Robert Greenblatt said the network worked on getting Kristen Bell for the role, but she was unable to commit to the busy schedule.
Peter Pan Live! will air on Thursday, Dec. 4.
