Tom Holland and Zendaya may appear to be the “perfect” Hollywood couple with “millions of fans cheering them on as they plan their wedding,” but a source exclusively tells Star that they still have their ups and downs.

“Just because Tom wants to spend the rest of his life with Zendaya doesn’t mean he’s immune to making mistakes,” the source shares.

According to the source, the English actor, 29, has “grown up” a lot during his “sobriety journey,” but sometimes “acts childish when he doesn’t get his way.”

The Marvel star quit drinking in 2022 and has been open with the public about being sober, even launching a line of non-alcoholic beers called BERO.

The source claims that Holland can be “self-absorbed” at times — a trait that “Zendaya has never been a fan of.” His “ego and maturity issues” also caused tension early on in their romance.

“Zendaya is patient,” the source notes, “but she also knows Tom’s weaknesses better than anybody.”

An insider previously told Star in May that the couple, whose engagement was confirmed earlier this year, were pushing back their wedding plans due to their hectic work schedules.

“They tried to fit it in this year, but they looked at their schedules and there’s no way,” the insider shared. “They’re so career-minded, they aren’t sure they can swing 2026 either.”

While the duo does collaborate on movies together, they also have a host of solo projects.

“It sucks to be apart, but being in huge demand is a good problem to have,” the insider added.

The Uncharted actor and the Euphoria star, 28, met in 2016 on the set of Spider-Man: Homecoming as Holland famously played Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the film, and Zendaya took on the iconic role of MJ.

In November 2024, the former Disney star spoke to Vanity Fair about what it’s like to act alongside her man.

“It’s actually strangely comfortable,” she admitted. “It’s like second nature, if anything. You feel extra safe with the person you’re acting beside. I love working with him.”

“He’s so talented, and so passionate about what he does. He always gives things one thousand percent, even if he’s absolutely worn down,” she further gushed. “I really appreciate that about him. It feels pretty normal. That’s how we met. Literally, at a chemistry read.”
