Whoopi Goldberg Threatens to Leave ‘The View’ Over Olympic Cheating Scandal Story: ‘I’m Out’

Whoopi Goldberg had enough during a recent segment on The View on Thursday, February 12.

“I’m confused by all of this,” Goldberg, 70, said after playing a clip of Norwegian biathlete Sturla Holm Lægreid, who went viral after his bronze medal win by confessing to the world that he’d cheated on his girlfriend in an effort to win her back.

Whoopi introduced the story and noted that Lægreid has since released a second statement apologizing to his ex-girlfriend for thrusting her into the public spotlight as well as his Olympic teammate, Johan-Olav Botn, whose gold medal win was overshadowed by his cheating confession.

As her co-hosts began hotly debating the issue, the Star Trek: The Next Generation actress was visibly shocked by the entire topic. Cohost Joy Behar paraphrased “the great anthropologist, Helen Fisher” saying people have a biological imperative to be “hot hot for each other” for the first two years of a relationship.

“Tell us, doctor,” a flustered Goldberg said.

“So if you are already cheating at six months, that is biology telling you it’s off, it’s wrong,” Behar continued.

With that, Goldberg began putting her head in her hands as he co-hosts continued to argue over the story.

“Stay with us, Whoopi. Stay with us,” Ana Navarro said.

Finally, the comedian began talking to someone off camera saying “I’m out,” and began to slowly get up out of her chair to leave — much to the live studio audience’s delight.

“Whoopi, you’re excused,” Behar finally said. “Whoopi, you’re excused from this conversation. Take a nap.”

“Please God yes!” Goldberg exclaimed before throwing the show to a commercial break.

“You know what? I’ll get this all straightened out. We’ll be right back,” she concluded.
