What To Watch: Unstoppable Featuring Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez’s very bad year was topped off by the news that Unstoppable made a total of just $3,966 at the U.K. box office (it had only a brief opening in the U.S. in order to qualify for the Oscars). But the small screen is a much better fit for this inspirational but by-the-numbers sports biopic.

It’s based on the true story of Anthony Robles (Jerome), who, despite being born with only one leg and having to deal with constant put-downs from his tyrannical father (Bobby Cannavale), dreams of becoming a competitive wrestler. Lopez gives a compelling performance as the working-class mom of five who supports Anthony in his seemingly impossible quest. There are as many battles at home as on the mat, but, like Rudy and Rocky before him, it’s a pretty good bet he’ll triumph over adversity.
