Police are investigating after a video of a Pit Bull attacking a woman on the subway went viral.
In the video above, the dog is seen pulling on a woman’s shoe as its owner tries to pull the dog away. Caught between the pair, another women is also seen holding the victims leg and trying to help her free herself from the jaws of the animal.
Ultimately the woman is freed after the owner tells her to remove her shoe. The dog then lets go of the shoe, which the pet owner returned to the victim by throwing it at her.
Witnesses to the incident were shocked. “You’re going to jail now and he’s [the dog] is going to get euthanized,” one man yells at the dog’s handler as he records the incident.
“The dog is not vicious. She did attack him,” the man is heard saying.
MTA rules state that non service animals are to be kept inside carriers, but it is not clear if the dog was in a carrier on the train before the incident occurred.
However, according to reports the woman allegedly attacked the man on the train first, prompting the dog to then attack her.
The incident occurred on the 4 train near Wall street.
