On Monday, the stars of Vanderpump Rules sat down with host Andy Cohen for part one of the show’s season 6 reunion. The emotional sit down covered VPR’s most dramatic moments, including the heart-wrenching story behind Katie Maloney’s accident that left her permanently disfigured.
Katie was left with a scar on her face after she fell 25 feet through a skylight in 2009. The accident resulted in a broken jaw, a broken collarbone, broken ribs and a brain injury.
During the reunion a video filmed just seven days following the accident showed Katie with missing teeth and stitches on her face. The clip brought back memories that she described as “surreal” as she whipped away tears. The star went on to explain the details of the life-altering accident and how it impacted her and her relationships.
Andy asked Katie if the accident affected her anger issues. To which she replied, “100%.”
“I ignored it and I didn’t want to talk about it to people. I didn’t want to talk about depression.”
Husband Tom Schwartz also elaborated on Katie’s injury, explaining that the accident affected their relationship as well.
“In the back of my mind during some of the more tumultuous phases in our relationship [the accident] was a consideration,” Tom said.
Katie agreed saying, “I had a bad relationship with myself and that affected my relationship with [Tom] and my friends.”
