We know Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds’ baby name isn’t Violet, and while the couple is still keeping tight-lipped about their newborn daughter’s moniker, we’ve now been given a few more hints! The actor appeared on The Late Show With David Letterman on Wednesday, where he came quite close to blurting out his baby’s name.
“I threw out the idea of just never naming the kid to be totally original, but, no, we have a name,” he laughed. “I just don’t want to say in, like, a media context. I tell everyone that I meet. So it’ll come out.”
With Dave’s prompting, we found out that Ryan and Blake’s baby does have a family name, although it’s not that of the actress’ mom (Elaine). Popular names like Olivia, Sophia, Emma, Madison and more were also eliminated from the list, and the Canadian star also revealed that it’s “maybe, kind of, yeah,” a biblical name.
Once it became clear that the 38-year-old wasn’t letting anything slip, the conversation switched to fatherhood and his relationship with the Gossip Girl star. “It’s amazing,” he gushed. “I mean, I’m not one for vomiting declarations of sentiment out across the airways, but when we had that baby, I fell more in love with my wife than I’d ever been in my entire life. I couldn’t even believe it. I used to say to her, ‘I would take a bullet for you. I could never love anything as much as I love you.’ I used to say that to my wife. And then the second I looked into that baby’s eyes, I knew in that exact moment, that if it were ever under attack, I would use my wife as a human shield to protect that baby!”
Blake gave birth to the duo’s baby girl just before the New Year.
