Not since Jennifer Lawrence’s famous tumble at the 2014 Academy Awards has there been much in the way of a misstep — until Sunday night’s Screen Actors Guild Awards, that is! This time, Naomi Watts took the unfortunate stumble, while accepting the award for Best Cast in a Motion Picture with her Birdman co-stars.
Lead actor Michael Keaton gave a short-but-sweet speech, leaving plenty of thank you time to his fellow cast members, including Edward Norton and Emma Stone, among others. The British actress was first up, and started things off with a blush-inducing stumble after her heel got caught in the lengthy, see-through train of Emma’s Dior Couture blazer gown.
Edward lent a hand to steady the bewildered star, as she screamed, “My God…Wow,” apparently in disbelief at the cringe-worthy moment. Dressed to the nines in a figure-hugging, navy Banlenciaga gown the 46-year-old beauty managed to re-gain her composure, thanking Fox Searchlight and the Screen Actors Guild, and praising the film as a “collaborative experience.”
Meanwhile, Emma grimaced at the situation, mouthing a, “Sorry!” as she gathered up her train, likely in an effort to prevent any other co-stars from going down!
