Those in Panem know the one way to get Katniss Everdeen to do something — harm someone or something she loves. In the new teaser for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, we see just that happen, when Jennifer Lawrence’s character returns to her home in District 12 for the first time since competing in the 75th Annual Hunger Games that “destroyed her.”
It’s Plutarch Heavensbee, portrayed by the late Philip Seymour Hoffman, who decides Katniss must go back to her destroyed home, as it’s the only way she’ll be motivated to lead the revolt against the Capitol. Indeed, Katniss seems distraught when she sees what has become of District 12, and solemnly walks through the city and her ransacked home, grabbing belongings along the way.
“Yellow Flicker Beat,” a song Lorde recorded for the film, plays in the background throughout the one-minute teaser.
