Getting The Facts

Watch: ‘Lorena’ Trailer Tells Infamous Bobbitt Case From Her Side

The four part series comes out next month.

Lorena Bobbitt made headlines 26 years ago when she infamously cut off her husband John’s penis and threw it out of the window of her car. She claimed he had raped her, which he disputed. Now, she’s telling her side of the story in a new Amazon docuseries, Lorena, executive produced by Jordan Peele. Watch the trailer above.

After the story broke in 1993, Lorena, then 22, became a laughing stock around the country because of her attack. But some agreed with her that John had been abusive. Ultimately, neither Lorena nor John were found guilty.

The new series will look at how the narratives were shaped and features commentary from people who watched the story unfold, including Whoopi Goldberg.

As Star readers know, John recently gave new details about the incident to ABC’s 20/20.

Jordan, who directed Get Out, said when the series was announced, “With this project, Lorena has a platform to tell her truth as well as engage in a critical conversation about gender dynamics, abuse, and her demand for justice. This is Lorena’s story and we’re honored to help her tell it.”

Though the trailer ends with clips from interviews with Lorena, it seems John was also interviewed for the project.

Lorena debuts February 15 on Amazon Prime.
