James Franco Scrubbed From ‘Vanity Fair’ Cover After Sex Scandal

The disgraced actor was taken off days before the magazine hit newsstands.

James Franco is still receiving backlash for his sexual misconduct scandal. The actor was removed from Vanity Fair’s Hollywood Issue cover after the publication learned of the explosive accusations made against him.

“We made a decision not to include James Franco on the Hollywood cover once we learned of the misconduct allegations against him,” A Vanity Fair spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter this Thursday.

According to the THR report, Franco, 39, participated in the Annie Leibovitz photoshoot with a collection of other celebrated stars (including Gal GadotTom Hanks and Robert De Niro), and even sat down for an interview that was meant to be featured in the magazine’s latest issue.

Due to his scandal, Franco was digitally removed from the “12 Extraordinary Stars, One Momentous Year” cover – which has since received criticism for its massive Photoshop fail – just days before it was published and distributed.

While it was an unusual move on Vanity Fair’s part, the decision was made after Franco was accused of sexual misconduct by five different women.

The alleged female victims – four of which were students in his acting school – claimed that the Golden Globes winner abused his power and fame to force them into uncomfortable sexual situations.

Franco denied the claims, saying he was an avid supporter of the “Me Too” and “Time’s Up” movements. Regardless, he apologized to the women and said he would improve his actions.
