Autopsy Shocker: George Harrison’s Rockstar Life May Have Led Beatle To Early Grave

Guitarist was a ‘heavy smoker’ before his fatal lung cancer diagnosis.

News of George Harrison’s untimely death shocked the nation in 2001, when the 58-year-old Beatle passed away shortly after being diagnosed with lung cancer.

Now, REELZ’s new docuseries seeks to reveal how the guitarist contracted the form of cancer, and why he died so quickly from the potentially-treatable disease.

“So far, I’ve discovered that Harrison was a heavy smoker—one of the biggest causes of lung cancer,” says Doctor Michael Hunter in the show teaser.

“But smokers normally develop the disease in their 70s, no I believe there could be other factor to his death—and I can see from biographical accounts that the 1970s were a troubling decade for George.”

Did the musician’s hard-partying lifestyle lead him to his early grave?

Autopsy: George Harrison airs Sunday June 10 at 9:00 ET/ PT on REELZ.
