Dr. Claims Rare Mutation Was Responsible For Elizabeth Taylor’s ‘Luscious Eyelashes’

Learn more about the iconic beauty’s secret medical crisis.

Was Elizabeth Taylor’s most admired asset, actually the cause of a secret medical condition?

REELZ’s new docuseries, Autopsy: Elizabeth Taylor, Sunday, seeks to uncover the truth behind the mutation that plagued the Hollywood icon before her sad death.

“Elizabeth Taylor was, indeed, a stunning beauty. But I have found something deep in her records which helps explain her key attributes: luscious eyelashes,” says Doctor Michael Hunter in the show teaser.

According to the doctor, the stunning actress “was born with a rare condition called Lymphedema Distancias Syndrome, or LDS, which gave her two extra rows of eyelashes.”

LDS is caused by a mutation of the FOXC2 gene and result in the growth of extra eyelashes. While the disorder certainly benefitted Taylor in terms of beauty, the rare condition can also affect other parts of the body.

“I need to look further into this condition to see what effect, if any, it had on Elizabeth Taylor,” adds Hunter in the show teaser.

Autopsy: Elizabeth Taylor airs Sunday, May 6 at 9:00 ET / PT on REELZ.
