Daryle Singletary’s sudden death came as a tragic shock Monday morning, according to a family member who spoke to radaronline.com.
Irene Willis — whose daughter is married to Singletary’s uncle —said that her daughter received the unfortunate news on her way to work.
“She turned right around and came back,” Willis said. “She drove down to Tennessee. The whole family are together now, and they are very upset.”
Willis’ daughter, Melinda Singletary, along with the rest of Daryle’s family convened at the late singer’s parents house —Roger and Anita Singletary — to discuss funeral plans following the star’s sudden passing.
“He had a blood clot. He just went out right out away,” Willis claimed. “He wasn’t in the hospital. He wasn’t sick or anything. It just happened all of a sudden.”
Daryle’s wife, Holly Mercer, found her husband unconscious around 4:30 AM and dialed 911.
By the time police reached their address in Lebanon, Tennessee, the singer was dead.
He was transported to the Wilson County Medical Examiner for an autopsy. No foul play is suspected.
“He had a blood clot and he just died quick,” Willis added. “From what I understood, it wasn’t long. It was very sudden. God bless his soul.”
Police confirmed the singer died due to a medical issue, but could not disclose specifics until the autopsy is completed.
Singletary appeared to be in good health last Friday when he performed at a concert in Alabama.
He was 46-years-old.
