Victoria Beckham Reveals Years-Long Battle With Eating Disorder: ‘You Become Very Good at Lying’

Victoria Beckham was the breakout star of her soccer-legend husband David Beckham’s docuseries, Beckham.

Now starring in Victoria Beckham — her own self-titled Netlix show about her fashion house — the former Spice Girl is opening up about her troubled past. Always rail thin, the 51-year-old disclosed she battled an eating disorder she hid for years. “When you have an eating disorder, you become very good at lying,” she said, adding, “I never spoke about it publicly, it really affects you.”

The mom of four revealed she was fat-shamed while at England’s Laine Theatre school as a teen. “I didn’t look like a lot of the other girls,” she shared. “That’s where I started getting a lot of criticism about my appearance, my weight.”

The scrutiny she faced while rising to worldwide fame as Posh Spice didn’t help matters. “I had no control over what was written about me or the pictures that were taken,” she explained. Instead, she said, “I could control my weight. I was controlling my weight in an incredibly unhealthy way.”

While she still famously eschews treats like chocolate, Victoria does have her vices. In one scene, she joked she’d like an intravenous drip of red wine!
