Van Hunt Has Proposed to Halle Berry After 5 Years of Dating — Find Out Her Shocking Response

Halle Berry’s future as a Mrs. is in limbo.

The Oscar winner, 58, and her boyfriend of nearly five years, Van Hunt, revealed in an interview with Today.com that the music producer has asked Berry to be his wife — but she’s yet to give him an answer!

“I put out the proposal, and it’s still on hold as you can see,” Hunt, 55, told the outlet. “It’s just out there floating. You know, maybe you can encourage her.”

The reason, says Berry, has less do with her feelings for Hunt — and more to do with her relationship history.

“Well, I’ve been married three times,” said Berry, who split from French actor Olivier Martinez in 2015. Prior to that, she was married to R&B singer Eric Benét and ex MLB player David Justice.

“Van has been married once,” she continued. “So no, we don’t feel like we have to get married to validate our love in any way. We don’t.”

Since going public with their romance in September 2020, the Catwoman actress — who initially met Hunt through his brother — has been open about their strong connection.

“You know I finally found love,” Berry declared in 2021 while accepting her Career Achievement Award at the 4th Annual Celebration of Black Cinema & Television.  “Even though you all have been on this painful journey with me — you watched me fail and fail and fail, and besides directing my first movie, I also found the love of my life and I know it’s true.”

The Monster’s Ball star further expanded on their undeniable chemistry in a September 2024 interview with Marie Claire. “It was the first time I was madly in love before I had sex,” admitted Berry. “That has never happened to me, ever.”

“Talk about one of those life-changing, beautiful experiences,” she added. “It was magical, just magical.”

Despite her hesitation to make it official, the mom of two — she shares daughter Nahla, 17, and son Maceo, 11 with ex Martinez —  does plan to accept Hunt’s offer someday “soon.”

“I think we will get married just because, out of the people I’ve been married to, this is the person I should have married,” Berry confessed to Today.com. “And I feel like I should, we should get married, but it’s not because we feel like we have to. I think it’s something that we would like to do just because we want that expression.”
