Tom Brady doesn’t mess around when it comes to NFL ethics.

The retired football quarterback, 48, sent out his website’s newsletter on Tuesday, September 23, addressing the critics who complained he shouldn’t have entered the coaching booth for the Las Vegas Raiders’ September 15 game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

The seven-time Super Bowl champion is, of course, a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders and a broadcaster for FOX.

“I love football. At its core it is a game of principles. And with all the success it has given me, I feel I have a moral and ethical duty to the sport; which is why the point where my roles in it intersect is not actually a point of conflict, despite what the paranoid and distrustful might believe,” Brady wrote.

“Rather, it’s the place from which my ethical duty emerges: to grow, evolve, and improve the game that has given me everything,” he explained.

The former New England Patriots star noted he loves being able to “help others achieve their potential in the sport” by passing on his knowledge.

“I’ve always been very open to helping anyone with questions about how to improve or to be the best they can be,” he continued. “I want them to have a chance to experience the kind of success I had.”

“I want that for all the guys we bring into the Raiders organization,” Brady added, “and I want it for all the guys playing their guts out in each game I broadcast.”

On Tuesday, September 16, NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy issued a statement regarding the situation, insisting that Brady’s actions were permitted.

“There are no policies that prohibit an owner from sitting in the coaches’ booth or wearing a headset during a game,” McCarthy said per ESPN. “Brady was sitting in the booth in his capacity as a limited partner.
