Tim McGraw had to take it easy over the past year after undergoing three back surgeries and a double knee replacement — but according to a source, his recovery is going better than expected!
Earlier this week, the country star, 58, debuted a sizzling new look with a “shaved head and ripped physique,” but his fresh style isn’t the only thing “attracting attention,” the source tells Star.
“He’s a walking example [of] how fortitude and faith can banish the aches and pains,” continues the source. “It’s no secret he’s had serious ailments, and it took a lot of time to get back to normal, and it hasn’t been easy, but he’s doing it and getting around okay now.”
The “My Best Friend” singer has been dutifully “keeping up with the physical therapy,” as well as using massages, hot saunas and cold plunges to aid in his recovery. His wife, fellow country artist Faith Hill, 57, and their family have also been there to “help him through” the tough times.
McGraw and Hill tied the knot in 1996 and welcomed three daughters together – Gracie, 28, Maggie, 26, and Audrey, 23.
“They give him love and support, and encourage him every day to take it slow and not push himself too far, even though he may feel great,” the source explains.

McGraw has also been back in the recording studio and has shows “lined up this summer into fall,” according to the source, who adds that he “can’t wait to get back on stage for the fans.”
The difference in his performances this year? “He listens to his body,” the source shares, “and avoids doing those sharp twists or turns that he’s known for.”
As he turns to his family for help, McGraw has also been supporting his loved ones right back. On July 1, he took to Instagram to share a photo of him posing with Hill as they visited Denmark to see one of his daughters perform.
“Hangin’ with my baby in Copenhagen to see @audreymcgraw on tour with the fabulous @brandicarlile,” he wrote at the time.
On Tuesday, July 29, McGraw debuted his newly-shaved head while on his way to a recording studio in Nashville, according to photos obtained by Page Six.
He sported a form-fitting burgundy T-shirt that emphasized his muscled chest and a pair of green cargo pants on the outing. He accessorized the look with a pair of dark-lensed sunglasses.
On Friday, August 1, he announced via Instagram that the official video for his song “King Rodeo” was out. Fans quickly flooded the comments section with praise for the country singer.
One user wrote, “Now this is the version of Tim I grew up on. Raw and reflective,” and another chimed in, “Such an amazing song from such an incredible artist.”
