‘The Buccaneers’ Is Back With More Scandal, Romance — and Leighton Meester’s Royal Entrance

In the first season of the Gilded Age drama The Buccaneers, wealthy American women husband-hunted in 1880s London high society. As season 2 opens, Nan (Kristine Frøseth) and Conchita (Alisha Boe) have snagged aristocratic husbands. But that hasn’t meant happily ever after for Nan. She longs for Guy (Matthew Broome), who helped her sister Jinny (Imogen Waterhouse) escape an abusive husband.

The period romance is anything but sleepy, in part due to some 21st century touches — a feminist duchess! Lesbian lovers! And a new costar, Gossip Girl alum Leighton Meester, sure to bring the Queen Bee energy.
