It’s a full-circle moment! Ted Lasso star Cristo Fernández pivoted to acting when his pro soccer dreams were scuttled by a knee injury. Now, the 35-year-old, who plays forward Dani Rojas on the Apple TV show, has signed a professional soccer contract!
“Fútbal has always been a huge part of my life and identity, and no matter where my life has taken me, the dream of playing professionally never truly left my heart,” the Mexican-born actor said, People reported.
On May 12, the Texas-based USL Championship side El Paso Locomotive announced that he will play forward for the second-tier club. “Cristo is a great addition to our roster,” said Locomotive manager Junior Gonzalez, according to the outlet, citing his “passion for the game and leadership qualities.”
