Taylor Frankie Paul faced new legal drama months before her journey on The Bachelorette was announced to begin.
According to The U.S. Sun, court records show that her ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen — who appeared alongside Paul, 31, on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives — filed a petition in June seeking custody of their son, Ever, 17 months.
Mortensen, 32, asked the court to establish custody, parenting time, and child support.
The case has been placed on the state of Utah’s “Significant Custody Dispute Track,” the most serious category for custody cases, according to The Sun. It is reserved for disputes involving allegations of child abuse or domestic violence.
The mom of three was arrested in 2023 following an incident with Mortensen and charged with three misdemeanors, including domestic violence in the presence of a child, which was caught on SLOMW cameras.
As part of the proceedings, both Paul and Mortensen are required to complete a parenting course and file proof of completion with the court, The Sun also reports. They were also given a Domestic Relations Injunction, prohibiting harassment, intimidation, or disturbing each other’s peace, including electronically.

The order further bans either party from committing domestic violence or disparaging the other in front of their child. Additionally, neither parent is permitted to take Ever on non-routine travel without the other’s consent.
As Star previously reported, the former couple welcomed Ever in March 2024, but by Christmas of that year, they appeared to have split.
This marks her second highly publicized breakup. Paul was previously married to Tate Paul, with whom she shares two children. Their marriage ended in 2022 after she admitted to crossing the line in a so-called “soft-swinging” arrangement that became a viral scandal on TikTok.
Before joining The Bachelorette, Paul rose to fame on TikTok as part of the “MomTok” collective in 2020. She now boasts more than 5 million followers.
