Savannah Guthrie, who is taking some time off from Today as she recovers from surgery on her vocal cords, provided fans and followers with an update.
“All good! Thanks for prayers and love!” she wrote on a whiteboard in a photo shared to her Instagram on Monday, January 5. (The surgery on Guthrie’s cords requires her to remain silent in order for her to heal.)
“See you soon!” she added in the post’s caption.

In the comments section, the 54-year-old journalist received love and well-wishes, including a sweet message from longtime pal and former colleagueHoda Kotb.
“Feel better my girlxxxx,” Kotb, 61, wrote.
As Star previously reported, Guthrie had vocal nodules and a polyp, which caused her to sound like she had a scratchy throat for a prolonged period of time.
The condition is commonly found in people who use (or overuse) their voice. Singers, actors, teachers and broadcast journalists are prone to vocal nodules — which are small growths on your vocal folds that prohibit proper phonation — if they don’t speak or sing with proper technique, according to Cleveland Clinic.

“Some of you have noticed that my voice has been very scratchy and started to crack a little bit,” Guthrie said on air on December 19. “Well, I have found out what it is. I have vocal nodules and I also have a polyp. It’s not a big, big deal, but I am going to have to have a surgery in the new year and be off for a couple of weeks, so this is my last day for a little while.”
