Sarah Jessica Parker is spilling the tea — or rather, the alcohol — on what her Sex and The City character Carrie Bradshaw’s signature cocktail really tasted like.

On Monday, June 2, the actress, 60, was a guest on Andy Cohen’s Sirius XM show Radio Andy along with her And Just Like That costars Cynthia Nixon, Sarita Choudhury, Kristin Davis and Nicole Ari Parker. Sarah Jessica revealed that the cosmopolitans her character famously sipped throughout the series were not as chic as fans thought.

“It wasn’t until the show ended that I had a proper cosmopolitan,” she confessed. “Because I think the ones on the show that every amazing prop person may ever worked with, and alongside, did cranberry juice and a twist…”

“Just a watery cranberry juice,” Nixon, 59, added.

Sarah Jessica continued, “And so, when people very kindly sent me a cosmopolitan in that particular chapter, there wasn’t a lot of finesse around them. So I was under the impression that a cosmopolitan wasn’t worth anyone’s time.”

However, the six-time Golden Globe Award winner said she changed her tune on the drink after having one at Morandi, an Italian restaurant in Manhattan.

“[It] was [one] of the best cosmopolitans,” she remarked.

Cohen, 57, was surprised that Sarah Jessica had experienced so many mediocre cocktails, saying, “I would think though, if you walk into a restaurant and order a cosmo, if I was the bartender making a cosmo for you…”

“You’d take some care,” Nixon chimed in.

When it comes to what the cocktail should look and taste like, Sarita, 58, explained that the coloring “has to be this murky, pale pink at the end.” Sarah Jessia and Sarita also agreed that fresh lime is a crucial component of the mixed drink.

“I just think people did it differently then,”added Sarah Jessica, insisting that no one is to blame. “So, in nobody’s fault, no, there were no errors. It had all been wonderful.”

Sex and The City aired for six seasons from 1998 to 2004. The comedy-drama’s sequel series, And Just Like That, began airing in 2021 and is now in its third season, which is airing now on Max.
