Reese Witherspoon Clears Up ‘Assumptions’ About Jennifer Aniston and Her Ex Brad Pitt

Reese Witherspoon is a staunch supporter of her Morning Show costar Jennifer Aniston — and her reputation.

“I just think people are so unfair sometimes that they think they know her and make assumptions,” Withersperson, 49, said during a November 3 episode of Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard. “She’s not who people think she is, like, holding onto old things. She’s not holding onto old things.”

“She’s not ‘pining for Brad Pitt,’” Dax Shepard, 50, clarified.

“Nope,” Witherspoon responded, going on to explain that the invite list for Aniston’s milestone birthday bash in 2019 was proof that all is well between the former couple.

“By the way, at her 50th birthday — one of the biggest testaments I can say to what a wonderful person she is — people from her teenage years, people from her 20s, people who work in her home, every ex-husband, ex-boyfriend was there,” said Witherspoon. “She just is like a high spiritual, integrity person.”

Aniston, 56, and Pitt, 61, were married from 2000 to 2005. Pitt went on to marry Angelina Jolie in August 2014 and their divorce was finalized in December 2024. Aniston and Justin Theroux were married from 2015 until their 2018 separation.

As Star previously reported, Aniston went “Instagram Official” with new beau, hypnotherapist Jim Curtis on Sunday, November 2. “Happy birthday my love. Cherished,” Aniston captained a black-and-white image of the couple embracing.

Witherspoon continued to praise her longtime friend during Armchair Expert, calling her Morning Show co-star “warm and friendly,” despite the public fixation on her personal life.
