When you have the money, why not spend it? From Nicholas Cage’s dinosaur skull to Mike Tyson’s solid gold bathtub, some celebrities have been known to spend thousands, sometimes millions of dollars on items that most would deem ridiculous. Here are 5 stars that made us facepalm because of their spending habits.

Lady Gaga – $50,000 Ghost Detection Technology

While plenty of people have a fear of the paranormal, Lady Gaga has invested in hers, big time. While most of us would put $50,000 toward a home, the popstar sunk that much into having an electromagnetic ghost detection field installed around her mansion to ward off a vengeful spirit named Ryan.

Bono – $1,000 For His Hat To Fly First-Class

Apparently, you can buy a plane ticket for a hat. True, this is by no means the most expensive purchase a celebrity has ever made. However, the ticket agent must’ve raised an eyebrow when U2’s lead singer bought a first-class ticket to Italy just for his favorite cowboy hat. At least no one tried to take his armrest.

Paris Hilton – $325,000 Dog House

We all know Paris Hilton and the love she holds for her chihuahuas. Apparently, that love transcends most traditional doggie dwellings. Hilton had a $325,000, two-story dog house custom-built in the image of her own mansion. It’s equipped with air conditioning, leather sofas, a chandelier, and an access way to her swimming pool.

Beyoncé – $85,000 diamond-encrusted Barbie

When Bey and Jay-Z had their first child, Blue Ivy, in 2012, the world expected that the couple would spoil her a bit. However, who would’ve thought an $85,000 Barbie would make a great gift for a one-year-old?

Daniel Radcliffe – $17,000 Mattress

We all like a good night’s sleep. In fact, a nice mattress is often a worthwhile investment. But what about one that costs $17,000? The star of the Harry Potter franchise thinks so. Hey, if you use a lot, why not? Don’t knock the benefits of 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep.
