“We are just another law-abiding family, doing our best to contribute to society,” the wicked matriarch of the Cody clan is heard saying during the opening of a season 2 promo.
But Animal Kingdom‘s loyal fans know that’s far from the truth — and will especially be the case as new episodes are set to hit TNT network on May 30.
As fans may remember, season one unfolded a storyline centered around 17-year-old Joshua “J” Cody (Finn Cole), who was forced by law to reunite with his estranged and criminal grandmother, Janine “Smurf” Cody (Ellen Barkin) after his mother overdosed on heroin.
He quickly learns that his twisted family members are involved in a game of dangerous bank-robbing schemes — all orchestrated and controlled by his grandmother.
By the time season one wraps up, Smurf’s family of puppets — Barry “Baz” Blackwell (Scott Speedman), Pop (Shawn Hatosy), Craig (Ben Robson), and Deran (Jake Weary) — all have their newest member, Joshua, ready to join their dangerous missions.
But will Smurf lose her creepy control over the boys in season two?
