The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who moved from California back to the United Kingdom in August, are reportedly still looking for a place to officially call their own.
The Daily Mail reported on Monday, November 2, that Harry, 42, Meghan, 45, and their two children — Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5 — have been staying with a wealthy businessman friend who lives in the Cotswolds since their return to the U.K.
“It’s extraordinary that a couple who talk so much about independence are once again relying on a billionaire friend to provide them with somewhere to live,” an insider told journalist Rob Shuter for a Wednesday, November 4, report on his Naughty But Nice Substack.
The Spare author and the former Suits actress have reportedly been hoping to make a purchase, but the insider claimed that “their house hunt has effectively stalled.”
“They haven’t found anything they both love that they can realistically afford,” the insider added.

According to the Naughty But Nice report, they have their eyes on the Cotswolds region and a property that costs approximately £10 million (more than $13 million).
“They have champagne tastes, but the bank balance isn’t matching the ambition,” said a source. “They want a magnificent country estate where they can entertain, enjoy privacy and live the lifestyle they imagine for themselves. But a £10 million house is simply beyond their reach right now.”
The couple also have their Montecito Mediterranean-style mansion, which they purchased in July 2020 for $14.65 million, according to Architectural Digest.
“They want the best of both worlds, but maintaining two homes and two lifestyles costs a fortune,” Shuter’s insider said. “Buying a £10 million estate is only the beginning. Staff, security and maintenance would be enormous expenses.”
